Abstract:

This paper summarizes the literature on the use of CRM as an additive in HMA. Wet and dry processes are discussed and the objective of each explained. Material, design and construction considerations are covered. Emphasis is placed on the effects the added CRM has to the binder and ultimately mix performance. Only the use of CRM in mixtures is examined. Other applications such as the use of CRM in surface treatments, stress absorbing membrane interlayers, and joint and crack sealants are not discussed.
