Abstract:

REsults of an experimental and analysis study single breakwaters on oblique waves are presented. Three orientations of the breakwaters are studied, those being parallel to the shoreline, and at plus and minus 45? to the shoreline. The analysis of the experiment is performed using the elliptic shoreline assumption. This analysis is based in data resulting from tests on parallel breakwaters in direct waves. Hence, the best agreement between the experimental and analytical results is for the parallel breakwater orientation .
