Abstract:

Research on a prototype concurrent software development environment for large-scale structural engineering computing is currently underway at Purdue University. This environment is being created by applying the object-oriented paradigm to parallel programming. It is composed of reusable software components and of CASE tools for managing and integrating these components into applications. Such an environment has great potential to improve quality and productivity of research in concurrent software development for structural engineering. The final product of this work will be evaluated through its application in the development of a number of integrated research programs.
