Abstract:

Classical design concepts restrict themselves to sufficient structural safety, using linear analysis methods. Durability questions are mainly treated independently. Modern computer simulations based on realistic material descriptions admit unified approaches of structural safety and durability, as this paper demonstrates by example of large reinforced shells.
