The Behaviour and Design of Stressed-Arch (Strarch) Frames

by Murray J. Clarke, Univ of Sydney, N.S.W.,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Spatial, Lattice and Tension Structures

Abstract:

The paper presents an overview of the stressed-arch structural system and the associated research program undertaken at the University of Sydney between 1988 and 1992. The objectives of the research were to investigate the strength and behaviour of stressed-arch frames through experimental and theoretical studies, culminating in the development of simple, yet rational and economical, design procedures for the initially curved and yielded top chord.
