Abstract:

The general equation of mobility is used to understand the development of urban systems. Using iterative methods it is shown that the town planning criterion used currently gives rise to intrinsically unstable system; it is also shown that their growth factor is given by the control parameter, and influences both stability and chaos. It is on the other hand possible to have intrinsically stable town-planning systems, if these are in line with the conformal transformations of the Siegel invariants of the Julia set. It is seen that the polycentric-city system, with foot-transit sized poles, can be one such. The ideal system offer a mobility with high percentage of use of public transport systems and it is applicable as well to existing cities, with suitable transformations.
