Abstract:

While statistical data on traffic accidents are invaluable in devising effective traffic safety measures, the number of data items and samples are vast and they must be processed and edited in such a form as to allow speedy analysis on computers together with data on roads and traffic conditions to allow full use of them to be made in planning improvements on the road traffic environments. Outline discussions are made in the present paper on the creation of an integrated data base for traffic accidents combining the data on traffic accidents with the data on road and traffic conditions and the development of a personal computer system intended to allow easy display of the data on the occurrence of accidents and analysis of the accidents.
