Abstract:

A critical aspect of the North Marin Water District's mission to maintain reliable water supply facilities and water service is periodic assessment and re-evaluation of the seismic safety and performance of Stafford Dam. This paper chronicles the district's program as it keeps pace with advances in analytical methods and exploration techniques. Investigations of the seismic safety of Stafford Dam including response to the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake are described.
