Investigation of Saltating Particle Motions Using Flow Visualization Technique

A real-time flow visualization technique is applied in this study to investigate these phenomena. This technique is able to measure the particle trajectories and particle velocities without interfering the flow field. Several cases with combinations of different water depths, channel slopes, particle sizes and channel bed combinations were tested. Relations between the average saltation height, length and velocity were obtained.
