Abstract:

An articulated concrete erosion protection system is investigated as a possible revetment for bridge piers to be used in place of the traditional rip-rap revetment. The system consists of concrete blocks in the shape of truncated pyramids interconnected by stainless steel cable. Hydraulic model studies are used to develop guidelines for dimensions of the revetment.
