Flow Resistance Properties of Flexible Linings

Abstract:

Flow resistance for flexible channel linings is a function of the relative roughness of the lining in accordance with boundary-layer principles. As with vegetation, flexible linings have a tendency to deform under imposed boundary shear stress. The erosion control properties of flexible channel linings depend largely on the creation of a buffer zone above the soil surface. A standardized method for testing flexible linings is discussed.
