Abstract:

The removal efficiency of light liquid separation schemes is determined by the hydraulic inflow conditions, the inflow fluid properties and the separator hydraulics. The relating set of parameters is worked out for the most common gravity separators and practical measures for operational and structural improvement are elaborated. A case study presents the optimization results for an existing separation structure which has been investigated in physical models applying advanced measurement techniques.
