Abstract:

A groundwater flow model is being developed for use in management of a planned groundwater storage and recovery program for the Beaumont Storage Unit of the San Gorgonio Pass groundwater basin located in Riverside County, California. The model will initially be used to assess the impact of the planned artificial recharge program. The results of calibration efforts are presented in this paper. The U.S.G.S. MODFLOW computer program was used to develop the groundwater flow model of the basin. The model was calibrated for a steady-state condition and a 20 year period transient condition. Calibration efforts helped to gain insight into the hydraulics of the basin and to develop a plan for further data acquisition for refining the model.
