Abstract:

Details are given of the refinements to a numerical model to improve the representation of the advective transport of water quality constituents. The higher order accurate scheme adopted for this refinement is based on a modified form of third order upwinding, with a clipping procedure being adopted to eliminate any negative concentrations. The model has been applied to a practical study to predict a range of water quality constituents in a semi-enclosed coastal wetland, with close agreement being obtained between predicted and measured results.
