Watershed Erosion

Abstract:

Scientific agricultural planning requires knowledge of the relations between soil and water that cause soil loss, and of the procedure to reduce such losses on cropland. This paper presents analytical solutions which enable us to predict these soil losses or watershed erosion. This equation is relatively simple and it has been based on previously published papers by the author. According to Wischmeier, the primary purpose of the soil-loss prediction procedure is to provide specific and reliable guides to help select adequate soil and water conservation practices for farm fields. This equation has been tested on small farm plots in Colombia and the United States, and in six watersheds.
