Abstract:
A progress report is presented on American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) Standards Project X505: Measurement and Reporting Standards for Automated Agricultural Weather Stations. The information is extracted from a preliminary first draft of the standard; this draft will be reviewed and refined in the coming months. The standardization effort has broad support and participation by individuals from several groups including the ASCE Irrigation Water Requirements Committee, American Association of State Climatologists, American Meteorological Society, American Society of Agronomy, National Weather Service, USDA-ARS, US Forest Service, USDA-SCS and US Bureau of Reclamation.
