Abstract:

This paper presents a quasi three dimensional, sharp-interface code that simulates salt water intrusion problems in layered aquifer systems. Efficient and robust numerical schemes make the code suitable for practical applications. The code is verified against an analytical solution. Then, the code is applied to a large, layered ground-water basin in Florida. Results are compared with available field observations and other model results. The agreements are favorable.
