Abstract:

The application of advanced technologies in a rural highway environment continues to gain an increasingly significant degree of exposure within the IVHS community. As part of the Minnesota Guidestar IVHS program, emphasis will be placed on an investigation of rural applications of advanced technology in the state. This emphasis has culminated in the development of a major program to operationally test and evaluate advanced technologies in a rural environment. This paper outlines some of the concepts proposed in this program.
