Abstract:

Seattle Metro has issued final acceptance on a signpost-based AVL system. The system has been well received by operators and by service communications coordinators. Metro has taken steps to ensure the integration of AVL with other systems at Metro. AVL data will be archived to a relational database on the agency network for next-day access by transit analysts. future areas if interest include the integration of on-board electronics and participation with Washington State DOT and other transportation agencies in a regional IVHS data network.
