Abstract:

In the present study, a questionnaire survey was conducted in 9 cities in Japan to investigate the utilization perception and utilization of local residents to neighborhood waterfront area. The survey results show that urban residents actively seek neighborhood waterfront areas as vital open spaces for relaxation and recreation, and coastal waterfront areas are especially valued and heavily utilized.
