Abstract:

A coast segment from Tuapse City to the Psou River, 113 km long, is extended in this paper. Geological description of the coast has been made, and approximate values of the abrasion rate on different coast segments are given. They are 4.2 - 8.7 meters per 100 years. The main source of gravel material are those rivers which transport 377000 m 3 of it in a year. Since 1950 river sediment discharge has reduced due to anthropogenous meddling into natural process. To protect a permanent way, going near the water edge, from abrasion 80.6 km of wave breaking walls, 11 km of groynes, 914 groins totally 54.8 km long have been erected. But complete coast stabilization in this area has not been attained. The results of mathematical modelling of the coastal processes, when constructing gravel necessary for creation of balance profile is given here. Average 74 m3 of gravel are necessary for construction of 1 m of coast line.
