Part of: Coastal Engineering Considerations in Coastal Zone Management

Abstract:

The Washington State Department of Ecology and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have initiated a cooperative agreement for the joint management and funding of the Washington Coastal Data Information Program. The program employs a network of gaging stations to monitor the nearshores wave climate in Washington State. On-line data base systems provide statistics to planners, engineers, scientists, mariners, fishermen, and others for near real-time and historical use. The program promotes the incorporation of various agency requirements to measure wave and other climatological and environmental parameters, with a long-term objective of developing a comprehensive coastal environmental assessment.
