Abstract:

Coastal America is a unique partnership for action that was established in 1991 to restore, preserve and protect America's coastal heritage. The concept is to leverage the resources, expertise and programs of the federal agencies with those of states, local government, business and community groups. In its first operational year, 1992, it generated 24 partnership projects in 15 states valued at over $12 million with over half of the project costs provided by non-federal partners.
