Abstract:

The agency has assembled a diverse team from government, academia, the private sector, and its program staff within the region to develop specific guidelines for identifying and evaluating wetlands for potential restoration. NMFS has assisted in identifying additional wetland sites for future funding under the CWPPRA process. This paper describes the role of NMFS in wetlands restoration, the project evaluation and funding process under CWPPRA, and anticipated benefits for the wetlands of Louisiana.
