Abstract:

The Ghanaian coast is overlain with over 50 lagoons and wetlands, which among others, are important wintering sites for European birds. Types, location and size of the wetlands are inventorised. Their uses and benefits are highlighted. Particular attention is placed on their current state and management practices. Their potential uses are discussed.
