Abstract: This monograph, Hydraulic Design of Reversible Flow Trashracks, consolidates the body of information on reversible flow trashracks into a design procedure. The information was gathered from reports of structural failures, favorable operating experiences, model studies and prototype tests, and published technical literature. The emphasis is on the practical analysis and design of real structures rather than on mathematical techniques. It consists of eight sections. The first section introduces pumped storage developments and trashracks as one feature of design. Section II emphasizes velocity considerations while Section III discusses the forces that act on trashracks. The next section explores the dynamic response of trashracks. Sections V and VI discuss design considerations and procedures while various aspects of modeling and testing are covered in Section VII. The final section contains a comprehensive bibliography.
