This paper explains planning issues and methodology for the national high speed rail network in Korea. Planning process of the national high speed rail network in Korea based on the link efficiency and the network design problem concept is described. Long term transportation environments, feasibility of a high speed rail line, impacts of a high speed rail on other inter-city transportation modes and freight transport are explained.
