Abstract:

Recognizing the potential benefits of MAGLEV high speed mass transportation systems, three innovative guideway systems have been evaluated herein from the viewpoint of: (1) loads and performance limits; (2) in-service mass transit guideway system performance; and (3) comparison of dead loads, stresses and deflections of concrete, steel and concrete-steel guideways. The MAGLEV guideway designs are developed for 80' spans and their cross sectional details are presented.
