Abstract:

Fiber optic cable technology has progressed from the pioneer stage and is becoming a widely accepted method of data transmission. Utilization for traffic signal systems, however, is not widespread but offers tremendous opportunities to improve traffic management, equipment maintenance and real time surveillance.
