Abstract:

This study develops methods for information extraction that he bridge the gap between the detailed condition data collected by advanced technologies and the information necessary for maintenance decision making. The main elements of the proposed methodology are: (i) identifying the nature of the spatial interdependence amongst the distresses; (ii) representing distress occurrences by a continuous function that avoids any a priori discretization scheme; and consequently, (iii) defining uniformly behaving units that accurately characterize the true levels of deterioration.
