Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to present a step-by-step computer method for predicting the deflection and stress distribution duo to creep and shrinkage of concrete in nonprismatic, curved, prestressed, continuous box girder bridges. The method is based on the BP2 Model and the computer program accounts for the presence of the difference in ages of the concrete segments, the multiple stages in which the external loads and prestressing are applied, and the changes in geometry and support conditions as the construction progresses. Finally, a practical example of a cantilever cast-in-place curved box girder bridge is given.
