This paper describes a parallel-adaptive finite element approach on a parallel transputer cluster of the MIMD type. The analysis is controlled by a special error indicator. In comparison to sequential finite element algorithms additional problems arise regarding mainly the data structure, the mesh refinement and the domain decomposition. The results of domain decomposition, data structuring, communication and load balancing computed on an MIMD computer are discussed.
