Abstract:

The artificial intelligence, optimization methods and CAD techniques are mixed to develop an integrated system for design of arch dams. It includes a knowledge base, a data base, a stress analysis system, an optimization system and a CAD system. With the help of it, one can choose the position of dam axis, the type and the shape of an arch dam. It can produce the design drawings, the design data and the design report automatically. The merits of expert system, optimization and CAD techniques are integrated in this system which improves the efficiency of the design of arch dams a great deal.
