Abstract:

This paper presents the current state of the application of computers in civil engineering education in the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) Degree Programme - offered by the University of Zimbabwe at Harare Polytechnic in Harare, Zimbabwe. Specific changes that have occurred during the past few years have been reviewed, and the forthcoming improvements in the near future have also been emphasized. This subject is covered by two one-semester courses under the combined title: Communication and Design - whose contents have been compiled in view of the specific requirements of a developing country like Zimbabwe both in terms of the hardware and software available here.
