Abstract:

The problem of groundwater flow in leaky aquifer is looked at from a stochastic point of view. Optimal estimation of hydraulic heads are achieved using Kalman filtering. The Kalman filtering recursions are based on quasi-analytical solutions of the governing mean and stochastic flow equations using the Galerkin finite element method and matrix exponential.
