Abstract:

Efforts to implement computer programs which encourage water and energy conservation in the Columbia Basin, are described. Irrigators use the irrigation scheduling program to receive recommendations on the timing and amount to irrigate. The selected fields to be irrigated are entered into a pump selection program to obtain recommendations for operating pump combinations which minimize the total daily energy cost.
