Abstract:

The significance of low flush plumbing fixtures on the wastewater collection and treatment system serving a small community has been determined. Among the concerns studied were: functional performance of the fixtures, transport of wastes in building drains and laterals, and the operation of the treatment plant. The results of the laboratory and field measurements show 39 percent reduction in water use with no detrimental impact on the collection system or wastewater treatment.
