Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Structural Engineering in Natural Hazards Mitigation

Abstract:

A straightforward procedure for the optimization of member dimensions and reinforcement design in concrete structures consisting of beams, slabs, and columns is presented. The procedure adequately incorporates all the specifications set forth by design codes, and advocates a realistic estimate of both material and labor costs. The procedure follows design practice in its multi-level approach.
