Abstract:

A rapid visual screening expert system, California Rapid Building Seismic Evaluation Expert, was developed to enable efficient and effective identification of seismically hazardous buildings in California. The system uses the method for rapid visual screening developed in ATC-21. This paper summarizes the basic assumptions and the approach used to develop the system.
