Abstract:

A rather unique structure utilizing jumbo shapes was recently designed and fabricated. The structure was 100% welded according to the specifications for welding jumbo shapes recently developed by the American Institute of Steel Construction. This paper will review the AISC specifications, present a case study, and discuss additional welding engineering principles that will contribute to the success of similar projects.
