Abstract:

The present article deals with some aspects of bridge management of particular interest to bridge engineers and to bridge users at the moment. It addresses questions such as life-cycle performance of bridges, deterioration rates of structures and their components, hazards, etc. An attempt is made to suggest some topics for immediate investigation and with direct application to existing and currently designed structures.
