Abstract:

As a result of the need for tunnels, underground highways and parking structures, cofferdams, facilities related to the improvement of the environment, etc., there has been a significant increase in the volume of underground construction. These structures frequently use diaphragm walls (slurry walls), and this has generated a sudden interest in the improvement of their design, construction, and performance. We propose to conduct a research program that responds to this interest.
