Abstract:
Design load recommendations of Architectural Institute of Japan(A.I.J.) are revised according to a common principle to all kinds of loads. The basic wind speed is defined as the annual maximum value corresponding to 100 year return period. Wind characteristic models are improved and a wind profile correction formula is introduced to take the local topographical effect into account. Wind load specifications are intended to be used in both the allowable stress design and the limit state design with appropriate design criteria.
