Abstract:

This paper presents experimental results on the use of steel collars and steel jackets as a retrofitting system to improve the seismic performance of short rectangular reinforced concrete columns with inadequate transverse reinforcement. Three full-scale cantilever columns with light transverse reinforcement were tested under cyclic lateral force. The column retrofitted with a steel jacket showed excellent performance.
