Abstract:

TRAFEdit is an interactive, menu driven program which allows the user to create or modify an input data file for the TRAF simulation system. TRAFEdit is essentially an update to the NEDIT input data manager which supported only the NETSIM component of the TRAF system. TRAFEdit, on the other hand, can be used to develop data files for other component models of TRAF system and allows the user to create data files involving more than one model. TRAFEdit provides two different edit options to the users. One option labeled Quick Edit, works like conventional ASCII text editors in that it treats input data as 80-column strings. However, it is better than conventional text editors since it provides on-line access to the TRAF user guide for the data type described on a given line. The other option, called Smart Edit, is the main feature of TRAFEdit. This option splits the 80-column data into individual data items (entries) and allows the user to edit data for individual entries while providing all the help/information that is possible. The Smart Edit option also has several other intelligent features about the type of data that can be entered. The program performs several diagnostic checks on the entered data to assist the user in detecting and correcting common data entry errors. In addition, the program first checks for the validity of data file when working with an existing file which may not have created originally using TRAFEdit.
