Abstract:

It is essential that the shotcrete when reinforcing the rock mass achieves a good adhesive bond to the rock surface. The strength of that bond can be controlled by pull out testing either in situ or in the laboratory. The STC-40 is an equipment for fast and accurate in situ testing. The tester has been in use in Scandivania for about 8 years and applied on both standard as fibre reinforced shotcrete. The testing method is simple. a) Drilling of a core through the shotcrete b) Installation of pull out equipment c) Pull out of the shotcrete core until failure occurs The test result is automatically registered as a curve on a printing paper. The time for performing one test after drilling the core is in the range of 10 minutes.
