Abstract:

This paper presents analysis results of model tests on a 1:47 scale model of an offshore jacket structure under wave-plus-tow (representing wave-plus-current) conditions. The analysis confirms the presence of flow blockage under combined wave-plus-current loading. A force formula that accounts for flow blockage through the reduction of the current speed in the Morison equation is applied. The predicted wave-plus-tow forces are shown to fit the measured forces very well. These findings are consistent with recently published results.
