Abstract:

A numerical scheme is developed to simulate the propagation of second-order Stokes waves in a two-dimensional channel and the runup of these waves on an impermeable slope. The waves are produced by the sinusoidal motion of a flap-type wavemaker located an arbitrary distance from the slope. The numerical results for wave runup are in good agreement with those obtained from small-scale laboratory experiments.
