Abstract:

A linear analytical model is developed for the dynamic response of a flexible membrane wave barrier. The wave barrier consists of a thin flexible membrane suspended in the water column by a moored cylindrical buoy on the free surface and fixed to a hinge at the seafloor. The theoretical model is verified experimentally and comparisons are presented for the efficiency and overall responses of the system.
