Abstract:

This proceedings consists of the papers presented at the Eighth National Conference on Computing in Civil Engineering and Geographic Information Symposium, held in conjunction with A/E/C Systems '92, on June 7-9, 1992 in Dallas, Texas. The papers cover the broad spectrum of topics in civil engineering, including such topics as: 1) Engineering education; 2) transportation; 3) water resources and environmental engineering; 4) infrastructure management; 5) construction issues; 6) structural design; 7) computers in geotechnical engineering; 8) artificial intelligence; 9) parallel and distributed processing; and 10) neural networks. Papers on topics related to geographic information systems and spatial analysis in these and other sub-domains of civil engineering are included throughout this volume. They were part of a focused symposium conducted as a separate track of sessions at the conference. This collection of papers provides the civil engineer with a comprehensive and up-to-date look at innovative applications of computers in all areas of civil engineering.
